Song: “O how good it is”

We may be apart, but we can still “dwell together in spirit, in love and unity”.
We may not sing at the same time, but we can still “with one voice sing to the Lord”

Slice of life: with our students

Note: ‘Slice of Life: Our Students: Extended Play – Blooper Reel’ available at end of service…

A choice of a couple of songs that focus our attention on all tha God has done for us in Jesus. We can consider and give thanks for all Jesus went through on our behalf for our salvation and continues to do for us by his grace. He strengthens us in our weakness. He loves us and gives us what we need to sustain us, to comfort us and bring us peace. But it’s so that we can continue in service for him and others and live in ways that honour our King.

The first is by Stuart Townend/Keith Getty, “My heart is filled with thankfulness“, sung at a conference of many thousands.
The second is “You chose the cross with every breath (Lost in wonder)” by Martin Layzell. Both point us to Jesus and encourage us to bring our praise and worship to him as we sing.

Song: “My heart is filled with thankfulness”

Song: “You chose the cross with every breath (Lost in wonder)”

Sermon: “O Absalom!” (Colin Adams)

including Bible reading 2 Samuel 17:24-19:8 (Stephen and Susan Lawson)

Song: “I stand amazed”

Colin referred to this in his sermon…”He took my sins and my sorrows, he made them his very own”. Although overwhelmed by sorrow for our sin, he did not stop, draw back, but gave himself over into the hands of sinful men…”HOW MARVELLOUS, HOW WONDERFUL is my Saviour’s love for me”…and you…

Additional optional song: “There is strength within the sorrow (Sovereign over us)”

We have not sung this together at Greenview (yet) but perhaps you can familiarise yourself with it over the days and weeks ahead.

It speaks into our current situation in many direct ways and reminds us that God is strengthening us, ‘is working in our waiting’…’when beyond understanding you’re teaching us to trust’. It points us to our God who is “faithful forever, perfect in love and sovereign over us”…and ‘it is all for our good and his glory’.

Virtual Tea and Coffee

Join our virtual ‘tea and coffee time’. This is hosted by a couple of elders and will enable people to pick up on aspects of the service and pray with one another. This will be an online gathering and is only available from 12Noon.
