They say that History teaches us nothing. But Stephen Gamble shows that the History we consider in this passage teaches us that the promises of the Lord will always come to pass. Despite appearances, we should never doubt them. As David takes his place again on the throne, he also takes his place in a bigger picture. He takes his place not just in History , but also in HIS-Story, the story of David’s Greater Son, Jesus. As we compare the life of David and that of Jesus, we se that it is not only History, or even HIS-Story, but it also becomes Our Story. Because the way we respond to The King when he comes in humility will be reflected in the way he responds to us when He returns in Glory.
