This morning, Craig Dyer recalls how when he was young and tired with adult chatter he would be told “Just you wait!”, an indication that something much better would be coming. He points out that, in today’s passage, Paul does the same thing. The Thessalonians were worried that some of them were dying, and Christ had not yet returned. Paul reassures them that, although their bodies had died, their souls hadn’t. When Christ returned, they would rise again and, with those who were still alive, would rise to be with their Lord for ever. Jesus died and rose again from death and so God would bring with Jesus all who had fallen asleep in Him. So, “Just you wait!”
