This evening Paul McLoughlan introduces a new series on the book of Ezra. He begins with an overview of the book. This book is a continuation of the 2nd book of Chronicles. It spans more than 100 years. Ezra, after whom it is named, only appears after sixty years from chapter seven to ten. Looking at this first chapter Paul discovers two powerful actions of God. First, he stirs King Cyrus of Persia to request the Jewish exiles to return to their own land and to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem, and provide the means for them to do so. Then he stirs his people to return to the promised land to worship him there.
