Between September and December 2019, we are encouraging church members to meet one-to-one. One on one conversations are not just a biblical way to disciple (John 3, Acts 8, Titus). They also deepen relationships, increase vulnerability and encourage spiritual conversions. We want to move beyond weather, work and football (all significant things!) to talk about Jesus and how our faith is making a difference in our lives. We want to deepen superficial relationships: promoting honesty, love and prayer.
It’s helpful to think of our discipleship as having different layers, or levels, to it. While church gatherings and smaller groups are vital, going even smaller is also important. Our one-to-one conversations ( as well as our personal devotions) play a crucial part in a growing life of faith and faithfulness.
There will be more blogposts to come, as we offer encouragement and practical tips.
Andy Hunter and Colin Adams have also recorded an interview (“A One to What?) that unpacks some of the basics of one-to-one meet ups.
