4th century Christians debated the topic of the Trinity. If you’d lived in the 16th century, the subject would have been justification by faith (alone?). The 18th century? Sorry – you’d have had to grapple with the Enlightenment and the origins of the species. Today? Well of course – as we all know, the big hot potato is gender and human sexuality.
One excellent book that speaks to this subject has recently come from the pen of Glynn Harrison. A now-retired Christian psychiatrist, Harrison writes with great clarity into the 21st century fog. “A Better Story: God, sex and human flourishing” has received glowing reviews from many different quarters. Jeremy McQuoid, the pastor of Deeside Church, Aberdeen, recently ‘tweeted’ this about it:
This has been so highly recommended to me, I had to buy it. Every Christian needs to read this to understand why we have got to where we are in sexual ethics, and how Christianity tells ‘a better story’ than the mess we find ourselves in.
Having hopefully whetted your appetite, I’d like to invite you to come along to a conference being held in Glasgow on the 28th of October, 2017. Glynn Harrison will be the main speaker – leading two main sessions at our 2017 West of Scotland Gospel Partnership* conference.
Alongside Glynn Harrison, we look forward to the visit of Sharon James (The Christian Institute), as well as by representatives from the True Freedom Trust. They, along with my good self, will be running several seminars in the afternoon, on topics such as “gender and the law”, “pornography”, “homosexuality”, “transgender” and “marriage and celibacy.” The full program is listed below.
It would be wonderful to see as many people as possible benefitting from this day of equipping.
We might wish it weren’t so – but this is the “issue” of our day and generation.

*Greenview is part of the West of Scotland Gospel partnership. The partnership is a relatively new, informal network of churches in the West of Scotland who want to share together in the work of the gospel. Practically, the partnership includes three meetings a year between leaders of the 9 churches for mutual prayer and encouragement. We also plan an annual conference.
