Opening Song: “Who has held the oceans in his hands (Behold our God)”
As we come together we want to start with our focus on God and his greatness. In an ever continuing difficult and oftentimes confusing time, we want to lift our eyes and know the God is God, we are not. He knows everything. We do not. He is limitless. We are limited. He is sovereign and in control. We know we are not. So let us ‘behold our God, seated on is throne, come, let us adore him’.
Welcome, Announcements and Prayer (John Mowat)
Songs:
These 2 songs remind us of the need for humility as we come before God. ‘God gives grace to the humble but he opposes the proud’ (Proverbs 3:34, 1 Peter 5:5-6, James 4:6-7).
Pride promotes self; and compares and considers what’s best for ‘me’ but humility is content with what God has given and considers others before self. Pride says ‘I know I’m right’, and fights for own way; humility says ‘I could be wrong’ and is willing to yield. Pride thinks they don’t need help; humility looks to God and others for help. Pride complains and grumbles; humility is grateful. Pride says ‘My way, my will be done’; humility says ‘your way O God’, your will be done’.
“You choose the humble (The same love)”
“Your glorious cause O God (Let your kingdom come)”
Sermon: “With Bill Ferguson (Luke 4:18-19)”
We are thankful for Bill Ferguson being with us ‘remotely’ and speaking to us. Bill is from a Christian organisation called asialink which seeks to bring the good news of Jesus and support churches across Asia. (Find out more about asialink on its website).
